The Senior Manager, Network Marketing Communications is responsible for leading the Network Marketing team and managing all aspects of Network Marketing communications programs and projects. Duties include establishing and refining processes, defining best practices, ensuring communication functionality and visual appeal, and evolving execution based on strategic direction and measured results. The Senior Manager assigns projects to the team, develops schedules, and collaborates with internal stakeholders to facilitate the distribution of accurate and compelling messaging to worldwide audiences and drive network engagement. Communications include email campaigns, newsletters, and website/platform updates to inform travel advisors, supplier partners, and staff on news, event updates, and program activities. This role demonstrates skill in copy editing/proofreading, content formatting, and managing the creation of email and digital creative in marketing distribution platforms and content management systems.

 

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Lead the Network Marketing Communications team including internal staff and external contract resources by assigning projects, developing schedules, conducting regular team and individual check-ins, and providing coaching and mentoring to ensure team members are accountable and are supported with the necessary resources and processes to succeed.
  2. Lead the execution of communication campaigns that include workflows, translation, smart content, and complex target audiences to ensure campaigns support company goals, promote product awareness, and drive audience engagement.
  3. Manage Network Marketing Communications across multiple channels including one-off emails, email drip campaigns, recurring newsletters and website notifications, which includes sourcing and editing content, producing creative, collaborating with internal stakeholders, uploading creative assets, and deploying campaigns.
  4. Develop and execute marketing communications according to strategic guidelines established by Product Marketing and senior leadership to accomplish company objectives.
  5. Act as a knowledge leader and provide training on marketing applications, platforms, and systems utilized to create and distribute marketing communications to network audiences.
  6. Collaborate with the Senior Director, Marketing Programs & Distribution and the Director of Marketing Operations to develop processes and procedures to increase efficiency and enhance marketing communications performance.
  7. Facilitate the internal review and approval process for marketing communications, providing feedback and implementing feedback from internal and external groups to ensure communications adhere to best practices and convey Virtuoso’s brand identity including tone of voice and style.
  8. Test and optimize marketing communications using data and metrics.
  9. Collaborate with the Marketing Data Segmentation Manager and internal Virtuoso stakeholders to source and select targeted audience lists for communications and source new data points to increase targeting efficiency.
  10. Manage content and implement best practices with marketing systems and applications including SharePoint, Smartsheet, Microsoft Teams, HubSpot, WebDam, etc. 
  11. Complete quality assurance of digital marketing communications, ensuring compatibility with web browsers and email clients and all links, images, subject lines, personalized fields, and audiences are accurate and adhering to best practices.
  12. Take on special projects and/or participate in committees, task forces, or other company initiatives depending on business needs.
  13. Attend educational seminars and webinars to refine skills and keep current on travel, marketing, and industry trends and developments.

 

Educational and Skills Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising, communications or related field
  • 7+ years’ experience in events, marketing, advertising, or a related field
  • Proven leadership capabilities, leading a team and campaign project plans
  • Experience managing mass emails via platforms like HubSpot, Marketo, WhatCounts, CheetahMail, etc. is required 
  • Experience working in collaboration tools like Smartsheet, ClickUp, etc. is required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including excellent editing and grammar capabilities 
  • Account management or customer service experience is required
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and Internet navigation is required
  • Knowledge of HTML coding and email design is preferred
  • Experience with CMS (Content Management Systems) is preferred
  • Experience with CRM (Client Relationship Management) systems is preferred
  • Experience in the travel industry is preferred

Travel Requirements:

  • Infrequent travel may be required to attend company events (1-3 trips per year). 
  • Travel will be primarily domestic but may include some international.

 

Type/Nature of Contacts:

  • External: Frequent contact with independent contractors based on project requirements.
  • Internal: Key job contacts are primarily with manager and director level staff and above outside of the job’s immediate work unit/department.
