About the Product Marketing Team

Product Marketing’s goal is to make Thumbtack known, trusted, and loved by influencing the product roadmap, developing impactful positioning, and launching multi-channel campaigns. We shape our product to be market-leading and deeply aligned with the needs of both pros and customers.

About the Role

Thumbtack’s pro strategy is at an inflection point as we increase our investment in the large pro segment. As a Senior Product Marketing Manager focused on the pro side of the marketplace, you will be instrumental in shaping how Thumbtack shows up for our pros, with a key focus on establishing the platform as a trusted and effective growth channel for our larger pros.

In this role, you will serve as a strategic thought leader across pro, developing clear user problem framing, conducting market research, and developing deep user insights into the needs, behaviors, and motivations of our pro segments. You will use this expertise to shape product strategy and craft compelling messaging and positioning.

You will also embed within the product pods as the marketing lead across three areas: driving adoption of integrations/APIs, addressing foundational product gaps that have historically limited success for larger pros, and supporting initiatives that help all pros grow and thrive on the platform. You’ll partner closely with Product, Research, Data Science, Partnerships, Sales and Success to take these products to market, drive adoption, and help pros unlock the value of Thumbtack.

What you'll do

  • Become the expert on our pros, competitive platforms, and AI trends shaping the pro landscape. In close partnership with Product, Research, Data Science, and Sales, develop a deep understanding of the needs and pain points that large pros experience on the platform and translate this into clear problem framing. Leverage insights to create differentiated positioning that evolves how these pros think about Thumbtack, shape our pro strategy and roadmap, and recommend how we can win in the market.
  • Define and communicate the value proposition of our integration product. Develop messaging and marketing strategies that clearly articulate how different integration partners and APIs drive business value, and partner with Product, Sales, Partnerships, and Pro Engagement teams to increase product comprehension and adoption.
  • Develop compelling, insight-driven positioning and messaging on foundational product features that help large pros succeed on Thumbtack. Build GTM strategies for these features to drive adoption, directly coordinating with Sales and other frontline teams.
  • Partner with Product, Design, Research, Pro Success, Enablement and Sales to launch features that drive the key behaviors that set new pros up for success on the platform, ensuring that education is consistent and clearly communicated in and out of the product.
  • Collaborate closely with the Partnerships Marketing team to develop a deep understanding of partner-enabled pro solutions, owning the ongoing product narrative for how these appear on in-product surfaces, and educating pros once the initial product launch is complete.

In order to be successful, you must bring

  • 6+ years of product marketing experience, ideally across both B2B and B2C products
  • Experience marketing complex, technical products, such as APIs and integrations, and translating technical functionality into clear, differentiated value propositions.
  • Excellent strategic, product shaping, and reasoning abilities with experience creating clear problem definitions and combining market research, qualitative interviews, behavioral data, and competitive intelligence to influence the product strategy and develop differentiated positioning that drives growth
  • End-to-end GTM expertise, with a deep understanding of how to take products to market from insight generation and market assessment through messaging development, launch strategy, and performance measurement.
  • Adept at fostering collaborative environments, building strong relationships with peers, managing differing opinions, crafting clear lanes of ownership, and acting as a team player to drive alignment and achieve shared goals
  • Skilled at operating and communicating from high-level strategy and executive communication down to tactical execution

Expected salary ranges

  • For candidates living in Ontario and British Columbia, the expected salary range for the role is currently $135,200 - $174,900.

Actual offered salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as calibrated job level, qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role.
