Willful makes estate planning simple, affordable, and accessible for Canadians. Since 2017, more than 400,000 people have trusted us with their estate planning journey.
Estate planning is a high-trust, high-stakes space. Visual design plays a meaningful role in how people perceive credibility, clarity, and care. Good design at Willful should feel calm, considered, and confident, never loud or overproduced.
The role
We’re looking for a Senior Marketing Designer with exceptional taste.
Reporting to the Head of Marketing, this newly created, fully remote role is for someone who has strong visual judgment and cares deeply about quality, consistency, and restraint. You’ll be responsible for the look and feel of Willful’s marketing across email, web, paid, social, partnerships, and print, and for raising the bar on how the brand shows up everywhere customers encounter it.
This is a senior, hands-on individual contributor role with clear ownership. You’ll set the visual standard for marketing, make decisions about what good looks like, and execute the work yourself.
This is a newly created role, and starts as a 6-month contract, with a clear opportunity to transition to a permanent position based on performance and mutual fit.
How you’ll make an impact
- Visual taste and brand quality: Own and elevate Willful’s marketing visual language. Set a high bar for clarity, consistency, and polish across all customer-facing marketing assets.
- End-to-end marketing design: Design across email, website, landing pages, paid ads, social content, partnerships, and print, ensuring everything feels cohesive and intentional.
- Design that supports outcomes: Create work that is visually strong and conversion-focused, balancing brand expression with performance goals.
- Email and lifecycle design: Design distinctive, on-brand email templates and campaigns that work closely with CRM and content strategy.
- Web and landing pages: Design high-quality marketing pages in Figma with attention to hierarchy, flow, and usability.
- Partnership and co-branded assets: Produce polished materials for high-profile partners that reflect trust and credibility.
- Judgment under constraints: Make smart design decisions quickly, with imperfect inputs, limited time, or evolving requirements.
- Design systems and standards: Establish and maintain lightweight systems, templates, and guidelines that improve quality and speed without over-engineering.
- Thoughtful use of tools: Use modern design and AI tools to support quality and efficiency, without sacrificing judgment or taste
What success looks like
- Willful’s marketing looks consistently high-quality, calm, and credible across every channel.
- Stakeholders trust your judgment.
- Marketing execution feels more cohesive and easier to scale.
- Design elevates clarity and confidence without adding noise.
- Design supports on-time campaign launches through reliable timelines, clear handoffs, and execution-ready assets.
Who you are
- You have 5–8 years of experience designing for marketing in consumer tech, direct-to-consumer (DTC), or similar environments.
- You have excellent taste. Your portfolio shows restraint, attention to detail, and strong visual judgment.
- You understand how design builds trust and influences decision-making, especially in high-stakes or regulated spaces.
- You’re comfortable owning visual decisions from concept through execution.
- You design with the user in mind and care about clarity as much as aesthetics.
- You’re fluent in tools like Figma, Webflow, and email marketing platforms.
- You’re comfortable collaborating cross-functionally and explaining your decisions clearly.
- You use AI and automation as tools to improve workflow and output, not as shortcuts.
- You care deeply about quality and notice when something is slightly off.
Bonus experience
- Motion, animation, or light video work.
- Experience designing in trust-based categories (finance, legal, health).
- Experience building and maintaining lightweight design systems.
