Overview
National Debt Relief is seeking a highly motivated, hands-on Senior Marketing Automation Developer who is passionate about building modern, data-driven customer engagement experiences. In this role, you will leverage your technical expertise to design, develop, and optimize scalable lifecycle messaging programs that support business growth and customer success. Working closely with senior technical leaders and cross-functional partners, you will help modernize our messaging architecture, translate business requirements into robust Braze solutions, and drive platform innovation. The successful candidate will be a strong developer, an analytical problem solver, and a collaborative teammate who thrives in a fast-paced, agile environment while maintaining a focus on implementation quality, campaign reliability, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Build, maintain, and optimize marketing automation campaigns and journeys across email, SMS, push, and in-app channels, with a strong focus on Braze.
- Develop Braze Canvases, Campaigns, Segments, Liquid personalization, Connected Content, Catalogs, subscription groups, and API-triggered messages that support lifecycle, product, and marketing initiatives.
- Partner with lifecycle marketing, product, analytics, data, and engineering teams to translate business requirements into scalable, reliable messaging solutions.
- Implement event-driven campaigns using customer attributes, custom events, segmentation logic, and audience data from connected systems such as CRM, CDP, data warehouse, and internal platforms.
- Support the migration or re-platforming of existing SFMC campaigns, journeys, data extensions, personalization logic, and automations into Braze-native solutions.
- Build and maintain responsive email templates and modules using HTML/CSS, Liquid, and platform-specific personalization logic.
- Contribute to technical standards for campaign development, QA, documentation, naming conventions, segmentation, reusable components, and release processes.
- Troubleshoot campaign issues, data discrepancies, rendering problems, API-triggered messaging errors, and journey logic defects.
- Support deliverability, compliance, and quality efforts, including suppression logic, preference management, list hygiene, rendering QA, and adherence to CAN-SPAM, TCPA, GDPR, CCPA, and related requirements.
- Participate in code reviews, documentation, peer coaching, and knowledge sharing to help improve team execution and consistency.
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in marketing automation, lifecycle marketing technology, CRM operations, or martech development.
- Hands-on experience building campaigns, journeys, or automations in Braze or a similar modern customer engagement platform.
- Experience with Braze capabilities such as Canvas, Campaigns, Segments, Liquid, Connected Content, custom attributes, custom events, subscription groups, or API-triggered messaging.
- Experience building multi-channel messaging programs across email, SMS, push, and/or in-app channels.
- Experience collaborating with marketing, product, analytics, data, and engineering partners.
- Preferred Experience:
- Hands-on Braze experience in a production environment.
- Salesforce Marketing Cloud experience, including Journey Builder, Automation Studio, Email Studio, Contact Builder, data extensions, AMPscript, and SQL.
- Experience supporting a migration or re-platforming effort from SFMC to Braze or another marketing automation platform.
- Experience with CDPs such as Segment, mParticle, or Salesforce CDP.
- Experience with data warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift.
- Experience with Braze Currents, reverse ETL tools, REST APIs, or real-time event streaming.
- Basic JavaScript experience or familiarity with SDK/event instrumentation concepts.
- Experience creating reusable email components, QA checklists, campaign documentation, or team development standards.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong email development skills, including responsive HTML/CSS, modular templates, dynamic content, personalization, and rendering QA.
- Working knowledge of APIs, webhooks, data flows, audience syncs, and how marketing automation platforms connect with CRM, CDP, data warehouse, or internal systems.
- Solid understanding of segmentation, customer attributes, event data, personalization, suppression logic, consent, and preference management.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues across campaign logic, audience eligibility, rendering, personalization, and data quality.
- Strong attention to detail, documentation habits, and ability to deliver high-quality work in a fast-moving environment.

Compensation Information
Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for each position across the US. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. This good faith pay range is provided in compliance with NYC law and the laws of other jurisdictions that may require a salary range in job postings. The salary for this position is $117,500.00 to $135,000.00
