Strategic Education, Inc. is looking for a Marketing Specialist, Social Media to join our US Higher Education Brand Team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for social media, user engagement and community development through social channels. They will work with the Marketing Manager, Social Media to manage a brand’s online reputation by collaborating with internal and external partners in an effort to reach business objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Community Management
- Lead the day-to-day community management of each brand’s social media platforms with support from agency. This includes monitoring conversations on paid and organic social content, about or related to the university questions externally and privately, and escalating issues as needed.
- Partner with internal teams including legal, PR, academics, enrollment, product marketing, and more to develop appropriate responses, resolve issues, answer questions, and escalate concerns that arise on social media channels.
- Leverage social listening tools to regularly to monitor conversation on external channels about the university and flag emerging opportunities or issues.
- Keep a pulse on positive mentions and engagements to leverage impactful UGC moments for content strategy.
Social Strategy Execution
- Support the Marketing Manager, Social Media in the creative development of the university’s broader organic social media strategy, including partnering with external creative agency.
- Manage the crowd sourcing strategy for obtaining student and alumni testimonials, and faculty voices to support overall social content initiatives.
- Support testimonial approval process through outreach to students/alumni and thorough vetting through internal and external channels
- Monitor social trends and proactively pitch ideas for timely, relevant content.
- Support in publishing, boosting, and measuring performance of social content as needed.
Job Skills:
- Knowledge of social media (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube and TikTok).
- Demonstrated communication skills and ability to problem solve and partner across the organization.
- Displays autonomy, independent judgement, and decision making.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects based on business needs.
Work Experience:
- Requires 1-3+ years of marketing and/or social media experience or subject matter expertise. Other relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of subject matter expertise.
- Experience in community management and audience engagement, including issue resolution and cross-team collaboration.

- Must be able to travel occasionally should a business need arise. For most roles travel would not be common. Travel may involve plane, car or metro. In accordance with ADA policies, reasonable accommodations regarding travel limitations can be provided. - Ability to work onsite in Corporate or Campus location (in a typical office environment) may be required based on role. If so, this would include being mobile within the office, including movement from floor-to-floor using elevators or stairs.
- If offsite or hybrid role, must have access to work in setting which enables meeting all requirements of the role (including privacy, reliable internet access, phone, ability to video conference, etc.) at a remote location.
