Job Description:

Marketing Specialist (Fixed Term — Leave Coverage)

Company: Windward Software
Location: Remote (North America preferred)
Term: Fixed term, approximately 3–4 months

About the Role

Windward Software is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Marketing Specialist to join our Marketing team on a fixed-term basis.

This role exists to cover a team member's leave of absence. It runs approximately 3–4 months, including a handover period after they return, so the work you do carries forward cleanly. We're upfront about this so you know exactly what you're signing up for.

You'll own a real portfolio of work from day one — content, competitive intelligence, campaign execution, and web publishing — rather than assisting from the sidelines. It suits someone who is comfortable working independently, learns tools quickly, and wants meaningful scope on a small team where your work ships.

Key Responsibilities

Market & Competitive Research

  • Own market research that informs marketing initiatives and campaigns
  • Build and maintain competitive pricing analysis
  • Track and report on competitor social media presence, including:
    • Post types and content themes

    • Engagement levels and follower growth
  • Maintain competitive feature comparisons and keep them current

    • Sales enablement materials

Campaign Execution & Reporting

  • Build and deploy marketing emails and campaign assets in HubSpot
  • Set up campaign tracking, lists, and segmentation
  • Monitor campaign performance and report on key metrics (opens, clicks, conversions, traffic)
  • Surface findings and recommend adjustments based on what the data shows

Content Publishing & Design

  • Design content layouts using Canva or Adobe Creative Suite
  • Perform light video editing using Adobe Express, Premiere, or equivalent
  • Publish approved content to the website, including:
    • Page template setup
    • Text formatting in the HubSpot editor
    • Adding CTAs, forms, images, and SEO metadata
  • Manage content through review and approval workflows

Events & Marketing Operations

  • Provide marketing support for events and tradeshows as needed
  • Run data integrity audits and data scrubbing within marketing systems

Qualifications & Skills

  • Approximately 1–2 years of marketing experience (co-op, internship, agency, or in-house all count)
  • Strong writing skills — able to conceive, draft, proofread, and edit content efficiently
  • Ability to produce content that requires little or no editing
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong grammar
  • Working understanding of SEO principles
  • Working understanding of web image formats and optimization
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Comfortable working independently while collaborating within a team
  • Experience routing work for feedback and approvals
  • Ability to ramp quickly and take ownership with limited hand-holding
  • B2B writing experience is an asset, but not required
  • Interest in software, technology, or digital marketing is a plus

Technical Requirements

Experience or familiarity with:

  • HubSpot (CMS and Marketing Hub) — preferred
  • Canva or Adobe Creative Suite
  • AI-assisted marketing or content tools

Basic understanding of:

  • Image editing and optimization tools
  • Content management systems

Why This Role

  • Real ownership across content, campaigns, and research on a small, fast-moving marketing team
  • Hands-on experience with a modern B2B marketing stack — HubSpot, Adobe, and AI-assisted tooling
  • Work that ships, with visible impact on live campaigns and the website
  • A clearly defined term with a structured handover, so you finish with a complete body of work
