OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Director, Marketing, the Manager, Marketing and Media Relations – Atlantic Canada is responsible for hands-on, participative people leadership, and for supporting and implementing Circular Materials’ marketing and media relations strategies across the Atlantic region.  By providing strategic marketing support and managing day-to-day media relations activities, this role contributes directly to Circular Materials’ goals and objectives while serving as an integral member of the marketing and communications team.  Through professional level bilingualism in English and French, the position supports the execution of marketing initiatives and stakeholder and media engagement throughout Atlantic Canada.


This is a contract position, salaried paid and requires residency in Atlantic Canada.


RESPONSIBILITIES


      1. Promotion and Education for Residents

  • Plan, manage, develop, and distribute promotion and education materials for residents across Atlantic Canada on time and to budget.
  • Manage residential advertising campaigns in collaboration with agencies, municipalities, and other key stakeholders.
  • Implement quality management and continuous improvement practices to assess the effectiveness and efficiency of promotion and education initiatives.
  • Monitor budget, results and recommend adjustments to improve reach, engagement, and impact.


      2. Media Relations

  • Act as a spokesperson for Circular Materials’ Atlantic programs, including participation in media interviews, sponsorships, and speaking engagements.
  • Prepare and coordinate presentations, webinars, scripts, briefing notes, and related materials for media and public-facing activities.
  • Support the development and execution of media relations plans aligned with overall communications objectives.
  • Implement quality management and continuous improvement practices to evaluate the effectiveness of media relations activities.
  • Support the development and management of communications materials for Atlantic Canada stakeholders.


QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Post secondary education in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing or Journalism, or a combination of education and professional work experience is required.
  • An equivalent combination of education, and experiences may be considered.


Experience

  • 8+ years of related and progressive job experience.
  • 5+ years of experience as a people leader and manager.
  • Demonstrated experience with marketing communications tools and protocols, including campaign development, tactical execution, visual design principles, and the use of social media platforms.
  • Experience supporting public or government affairs initiatives and managing stakeholder relationships.
  • Understanding of effective communications, public affairs, marketing, stakeholder relations, and reputation management practices.


Knowledge/Competencies/Skills

  • Preference will be given to candidates with a strong understanding of artificial intelligence (AI) concepts and the ability to communicate and apply AI technologies effectively within a business context.
  • Ability to support and execute marketing strategies that align with broader organizational objectives, balancing long-term goals with short-term priorities.
  • Strong relationship-building, collaboration, and teamwork skills with exacting standards of integrity, ethics, and professional conduct.
  • Commitment to ensuring personal behaviour and team interactions reflect the values of Circular Materials.
  • Well-developed issues management skills, including the ability to anticipate risks, identify emerging issues, and support the development and communication of practical solutions.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, including evaluating alternative approaches and identifying creative solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to translate technical or complex information into clear, factual, and accessible messages.
  • Strong stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Adaptable, calm, and resilient, with the ability to function effectively in complex or high-pressure situations and respond constructively to unexpected challenges.


WORKING CONDITIONS

  • All CM employees work 40 hours per week, remotely from a Canadian home office environment.


PAY TRANSPARENCY 

Expected Compensation: 

  • A contractor rate in the range of $43 to $48 per hour.
  • The wage range listed complies with the Ontario Employment Standards Act and reflects a potential earnings range for this role.  The actual wage offered will be determined within the range, and will depend on factors, such as the candidate’s unique qualifications, relevant experience, work location and expected contributions.
