Field Marketing Engineer - Flexible Slabstock/Urethane Additives NAM

Summary:

The Field Marketing Engineer – Slabstock is a critical support role for sales and innovation enablement, supporting Momentive Urethane Additives goals to capture, retain, and grow customers. The candidate will work closely with the Momentive Sales and Technology teams to provide technical support, product evaluation support, troubleshooting, and application development at customers using Momentive polyurethane additives in flexible slabstock foams across North America. The candidate will act as the technical interface of Marketing; coordinating between customers, sales, and R&D to drive product adoption and ensure customer satisfaction.

Must be able to travel up to 50% within the US and Canada.

Responsibilities Include:

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

  • Deliver on‑site technical service, troubleshooting, and process optimization at customer manufacturing facilities.
  • Plan and execute product evaluations, reformulation work, and commercial trials.
  • Provide customer guidance on product selection, safe handling, and regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of trial results, customer feedback, and corrective actions
  • Stay informed of competitor technologies, market trends, and regulatory drivers affecting polyurethane formulations.

MARKETING EXCELLENCE

  • Support sales growth by demonstrating value propositions and supporting qualification of new materials.
  • Deliver technical training and presentations to customers and distributors.
  • Attend industry events chain to promote MPM products and concepts to the US/Canada Slabstock foam market.
  • Contribute to development of training materials, technical guides, and application notes for customers and distributors.

INNOVATION

  • Identify customer needs and contribute Voice Of Customer based feedback to the business Technical and Marketing groups for new product development.
  • Participate in field validation and refinement of New Product Concepts in the NAM region

CROSS-FUNCITONAL COLLABORATION

  • Support Technical, Operations, and Process Technology teams with slabstock foam application knowledge and testing
  • Work together with Americas and global FMEs to acquire technical knowledge of polyurethane foam additives, best practices, and latest manufacturing technologies.

Qualifications:

The following are required for the role

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.

  • 3+ years of technical experience in polyurethane chemistry or foam manufacturing.

  • Hands-on experience with lab formulation, foam processing, and trial execution.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work in customer production environments.

  • Valid passport / No restrictions on international travel

The following are preferred for the role

  • Master's degree in chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.

  • Deep understanding of the slabstock foam manufacturing process and value chain.

  • Experience with silicone surfactants, catalysts, or specialty additives for PU.

  • Customer-facing technical service, application development, or technical sales experience.

  • Ability to translate complex technical issues into clear commercial insights.

  • 5 years of experience in technical service or application development

  • Demonstrated project management skills with history of completing high quality work meeting deadlines

  • Excellent analytical skills

  • Ability to work well independently as well as experience working cross functionally in a matrixed organization

  • Good communicator as will be expected to present to customers and at Momentive internal meetings

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Able to express complicated concepts in a concise manner to support our NPI introductions, present at customer meetings, and communicate at all customer levels

  • Fluency in Spanish not required, but a plus

Base Pay Range: $99,000 - $145,200

The actual salary offered is determined by factors including but not limited to education, experience, skill sets, and geography.
