Position Summary:
Internet2 is seeking an Event Marketing Specialist to own the marketing strategy and execution for its two flagship events: the Global Summit and Technology Exchange, which draw anywhere between 450–650 attendees from institutions across the U.S. and internationally. Email is the primary channel for driving registrations to these events, and each event campaign involves 40+ targeted emails sent across a diverse, segmented audience of 18,000+ contacts. This role sits within a small, integrated marketing and communications team and works closely with peers in strategic communications, digital experience, and convening to deliver cohesive, high-impact event campaigns.
In this role, you will craft tailored messaging that resonates across a wide range of reader profiles, from network engineers and IT architects to C-suite leaders, international participants, and first-time attendees. You will own the full email curriculum for both events: from strategy and content development through automation, A/B testing, and performance optimization. Beyond email, you will coordinate multi-channel promotion efforts spanning digital advertising, community amplification, social proof, and in-event engagement to maximize reach and registration conversion.
Internet2 also supports additional community convening opportunities, and this role may be called upon to provide marketing support for those efforts as needed.

Write compelling, audience-focused copy and continuously optimize campaign performance through testing, analysis, and measurement of key engagement and growth metrics.
Support list growth by identifying opportunities to capture new contacts through event landing pages, gated content, and registration pathways.
Multi-Channel Event Promotion
Coordinate event promotion across industry publications, digital channels, and owned platforms, ensuring timely execution and consistent messaging.
Develop promotional assets, including attendee testimonials, case studies, speaker highlights, short-form videos, community spotlights, and event recaps.
Align event marketing campaigns with broader organizational marketing and communications strategies to maximize reach and impact.

Serve as a member of the Strategic Communications team, partnering closely with Convening, Digital Experience, and other stakeholders to execute integrated event marketing campaigns.
Partner with the Director of Community Events team to align email cadence and messaging with key event milestones, including calls for proposals, registration milestones, submission deadlines, program announcements, surveys, and post-event communications.
Collaborate across Strategic Communications, Digital Marketing, Web Experience, Creative, Content Marketing, and Partnership Marketing teams to align messaging, campaign timing, audience targeting, and performance measurement.
Coordinate with internal advocates, sponsors, and community partners to amplify key event milestones and campaign messages across email, professional networks, community channels, and owned platforms.
