Summary

At our ministry, we are passionate about forming lasting faith in every child, everywhere! As the Donor Marketing Specialist, you will play an important role in furthering our mission by developing and executing donor marketing campaigns that grow giving, strengthen donor relationships, and support the mission of Awana.

In this role, you will manage donor marketing strategies, email and direct mail campaigns, donor communications, and campaign performance. You will focus on building effective donor journeys and use data to improve engagement, retention, and revenue. You will work cross-functionally with various departments to deliver impactful donor experiences and successful campaigns.

This full-time position is primarily remote with occasional travel required for strategic meetings, typically in St. Charles, IL or Nashville, TN.

Hiring Range for this position is:  $55,000 – $65,000

Key Responsibilities:

Strategy & Planning

  • Develop and execute donor marketing strategies that drive increased giving, retention, and reactivation.

  • Build and manage the annual donor marketing calendar, aligning campaigns with fundraising goals.

  • Identify opportunities to improve donor engagement through personalized, data-driven marketing.

Campaign & Project Management

  • Own the execution of integrated donor marketing campaigns across email, direct mail, and other donor touchpoints from planning through execution and reporting.

  • Manage campaign timelines and collaborate with internal external partners to deliver successful campaigns.

  • Work with vendor partners to execute effective projects on time and on budget.

Content & Donor Experience

  • Write and edit donor-focused fundraising copy for emails, letters and donation pages.

  • Guide and steward donation page content and structure.

  • Partner with data teams to improve conversion rates and average gift.

  • Ensure all donor communications are mission-driven, audience-focused, and aligned with our brand.

Performance & Optimization

  • Take ownership of revenue performance for general donors and monitor campaign effectiveness.

  • Analyze donor behavior and campaign data to improve engagement, conversion, retention, and revenue.

  • Conduct A/B testing and continuous optimization to improve campaign performance and donor outcomes.

Organizational Stewardship

  • Uphold and demonstrate the Awana cultural values in all internal and external communications and relationships.

  • Contribute to special projects, initiatives and evolving ministry needs.

  • Embrace opportunities for professional development in order to hone your craft and expertise.


What You Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in marketing, public relations, business, or similar from an accredited college or university desired but not required

  • 3-5 years of experience in nonprofit marketing, digital communications, or fundraising required

  • Strong project management experience required, preferably within Asana

  • CRM experience preferred, preferably within Salesforce

  • Proven experience executing email and direct mail fundraising campaigns

  • Strong fundraising writing skills with a focus on conversion

  • Experience working with donation pages and online giving forms

  • Comfort being accountable to revenue and performance metrics

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally to keep campaigns moving

  • Working knowledge of fundraising data and reporting

  • Occasional local and out-of-town, overnight travel may be required.

  • General understanding of the Bible and the Christian Church in its various expressions is preferred.

  • Experience with Awana curriculum, resources, & solutions is a plus!

  • Valid State driver’s license required.

  • Eligibility to work in the United States is required; this position is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship.


Spiritual Life

Must be a born-again Christian. Must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Must be in agreement with the Awana Doctrinal Statement.  Must be in fellowship with the body of Christ through a local church. Regularly engages in reading the Holy Bible as a guide and standard for living. 


Physical Demands/Working Conditions 

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to communicate. The team member is also required to regularly utilize computer equipment (e.g., screens and keyboards) to perform work. Awana recommends maintaining ergonomic posture, utilizing properly positioned computer equipment to minimize strain, and taking regular breaks to stretch and move around. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Local and out-of-town, overnight travel may be required.
