OVERVIEW

Reporting to Senior Director, Marketing, the Director, Marketing – Alberta / Yukon (AB/YT) is a hands-on participative team member responsible for supporting and implementing Circular Materials’ marketing and communications strategy in Alberta and the Yukon.

This role plays part in advancing Circular Materials’ goals and objectives by providing strategic marketing support, managing external communications with stakeholders and is a key member of the communications and marketing team.


RESPONSIBILITIES


Marketing Communication Strategy

  • Support the team in the development and implementation of a comprehensive strategy integrating corporate marketing customer relations, external stakeholder relations, and public affairs.
  • Develop internal and external-facing reports showcasing the success and metrics of the marketing strategy.
  • Continue to build out marketing research and insights to further develop the audience and key messaging based on learnings.


Promotion and Education (P&E) for Residents

  • Lead, plan, manage, develop and distribute marketing materials to residents to support recycling education and recycling behavioural change.
  • Oversee residential advertising campaigns, events, programming and other tactics by working with municipalities and other key stakeholders.
  • Make sure that materials are consistent with overall national marketing strategy and communications.
  • Ensure quality management and continuous improvement systems are implemented to analyze and evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of Circular Materials’ promotion and education.


Communications

  • Develop and manage communications for Circular Materials’ stakeholders.
  • Arrange and prepare presentations, scripts and other related materials for meetings with and webinars.
  • Ensure quality management and continuous improvement systems are implemented to analyze and evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of Circular Materials’ communications to residents and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and manage events such as webinars, conferences, stakeholder meetings, consultations, staff events, etc.


QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Post secondary education in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or Journalism, or a related field is required.
  • CM, CMKP, DMSC, APR® or PRK® designation considered an asset.
  • An equivalent combination of education, and experiences may be considered.

Experience

  • 10+ years of demonstrated experience in marketing and communication protocols, marketing strategies and tactics, visual design, website management, and social media.
  • 8+ years working across communications, marketing, stakeholder relations, brand and reputation management.
  • 5+ years of people leadership experience
  • 5+ years in managing and delegating to a team of two or more.

  • Able to envision, articulate and successfully execute marketing strategies to influence behaviour change in support of strategic objectives and keep the long-term objectives top of mind while executing short term priorities.
  • Strong relationship building, collaboration, and team building and presentation skills.
  • High ethical standards, integrity, and alignment with Circular Materials’ values.
  • Ensure that own behaviour and behaviour of others is consistent with high ethical standards and the values of Circular Materials.
  • Ability to be agile and shift priorities with the team to stay on track and in budget.
  • Advanced issues management skills, including risk anticipation, contingency planning, and crisis response.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making abilities in complex environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a creative, solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Exceptional communications skills, both written and verbal with the ability to tailor as appropriate for the needs of the audience in order to convey messages effectively and accurately.
  • Able to translate technical information into factual and understandable messages.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills.
  • Highly adaptable, calm under pressure, and effective in complex or rapidly changing situations.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a strong understanding of artificial intelligence (AI) concepts and the ability to communicate and apply AI technologies effectively within a business context.


WORKING CONDITIONS

All Circular Materials employees work 40 hours per week, remotely from a Canadian home office environment.



PAY TRANSPARENCY 

Expected Compensation: 

  • An annual base salary in the range of $120,000 to $130,000     

 

The salary range listed complies with the Ontario Employment Standards Act and reflects a potential base salary range for this role.  The actual salary offered will be determined within the range, and will depend on factors, such as the candidate’s unique qualifications, relevant experiencework location and expected contributions.
