What We Do

At Leading Educators (LE), we know that excellent teaching is the most important driver of student success. The moment a student steps foot in the classroom, their opportunity to learn depends on how prepared their teacher is to translate complex content knowledge, standards, and their knowledge of that student into lessons that help them learn deeply and apply their thinking to the real world.

That’s a big lift, and it often happens alone. As a national nonprofit, we partner with school systems to overcome persistent instructional challenges, foster intentional collaboration and adult learning by design, and ignite new possibilities through systemic solutions at the intersection of teaching, talent, and technology.

We work shoulder-to-shoulder with educators at every level of the education system to strengthen their instructional and leadership practices, bring a vision for excellent instruction to life with consistency, and ensure every student reaches their full potential.

Through direct support, strategic advising, innovation pilots, and best-in-class research, we help educators work toward a future where every student is ready to thrive. Learn more about our work at leadingeducators.org.

Internal and External Candidate Application Deadline: 3/12/2026

Position

Leading Educators' impact reaches far beyond the work we do in classrooms—it depends on our ability to tell compelling stories, build visibility, and connect with the right audiences at the right time. As the Associate Director of Marketing Operations, you'll be the driving force behind multi-channel campaigns, events, and earned media efforts that raise awareness of LE's services and impact in support of organizational growth goals.

This is an operationally rigorous yet creatively dynamic role that sits at the intersection of strategy and execution. You'll translate organizational priorities into cohesive external campaigns and visibility strategies that strengthen positioning, build brand consistency, and drive engagement with priority audiences. You'll lead event production and promotion, manage media relations efforts, develop campaign strategy across email and digital channels, and serve as a steward of the Leading Educators brand—ensuring messaging and visual identity remain consistent and compelling across all touchpoints.

You'll work cross-functionally with Program, Innovation, Partnerships, and Development teams, moving opportunities from idea to measurable outcome with strong judgment, creativity, and collaborative spirit. You'll manage multiple initiatives concurrently, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and demonstrate exceptional storytelling acumen—both written and visual—that influences stakeholders and advances LE's reputation as a trusted partner in education systems change.

Do you have expertise in…

  • Communications strategy and campaign development, with proven ability to develop and implement integrated visibility plans that connect events, media, email, and digital campaigns into a unified narrative?
  • Event production and promotion, with experience designing and leading high-impact conferences, convenings, and virtual experiences that showcase expertise and advance organizational goals?
  • Earned media and media relations, with demonstrated success cultivating relationships with journalists, producing byline content, and securing coverage that builds organizational visibility?
  • Brand stewardship and creative management, with strong track record ensuring consistent application of messaging and visual identity across campaigns, materials, and teams?

Do you enjoy…

  • Translating strategy into action, taking organizational priorities and growth goals and crafting coherent external campaigns that connect events, speaking opportunities, and media placements into a unified narrative?
  • Storytelling in multiple mediums, crafting written, verbal, and visual narratives that influence stakeholders, build organizational reputation, and drive partnership and philanthropic interest?
  • Managing complexity and ambiguity, balancing urgency and rigor when responding to unexpected opportunities, making informed choices with incomplete information, and adjusting as new data emerges?
  • Building and leading cross-functionally, working collaboratively with diverse teams across Program, Innovation, Partnerships, and Development to move initiatives forward and achieve shared goals?

If you've answered affirmatively to these questions and meet the following prerequisites, we urge you to seize this opportunity. This role calls for the following:

  • 4–7 years of professional experience in a high-performing organization, with experience working in a nonprofit strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing communications strategies that drive visibility, engagement, and organizational goals
  • Strong track record as an implementer who thrives on managing multiple key initiatives concurrently with strong judgment and follow-through
  • Proven ability to manage by influence, with demonstrated relationship-building skills and flexibility to work collaboratively across organizational boundaries
  • Exceptional storytelling acumen—written, verbal, and visual—with proven ability to influence a variety of stakeholders and craft compelling narratives
  • Experience with event production, media relations, or campaign management, demonstrating ability to design and execute high-visibility initiatives
  • High energy, maturity, and leadership, with ability to serve as a unifying force and position communications discussions at both strategic and tactical levels
  • Self-starter mentality with ability to work independently in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Strong collaborative style with sincere commitment to working with diverse constituencies and ability to stay true to organizational values while incorporating feedback
  • Creativity and flexibility, with demonstrated ability to thrive in fast-paced, changing environments and adapt approaches as circumstances evolve
  • Exceptional integrity and commitment to Leading Educators' core values
  • AI Fluency at the Practitioner level—actively using AI tools to improve work quality, identifying appropriate use cases, and exercising sound judgment about responsible AI application
  • Ability to travel moderately for organizational retreats, programming, and professional development; must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States
  • Experience working in education (a plus)
